Shopify has recently announced newest features Location in Shopify unite 2018, This is rolled out to merchants on Sep 24, 2018.
What is the Location?
A location is a physical place or an app where you do any or all of the following activities: sell products, ship or fulfill orders, and stock inventory.
What is the Multi-location Inventory in Shopify?
You can set up multiple locations in your Shopify store so that you can track inventory and fulfill orders at your locations. Your locations can be retail stores, warehouses, popups, or any other place where you manage or stock inventory. With multiple locations, you have better visibility into your inventory across your business.
How to enable Locations in Shopify?
- Go to Shopify store admin
- Navigate to Settings > Locations, you will see default location would be your shipping origins.
- Enable inventory at locations.
- It will confirm from you that all your existing inventory will be assigned to your shipping origin.
How to manage inventory across Locations?
Inventory in shopify is managed at product variant level and now we need to map each variant inventory for location specific.
