Client Overview

DiA Precious Jewellery is a luxury jewellery and watch retailer in India with a presence in Mumbai and Surat. The company offers fine jewellery and luxury watches through its retail and digital channels. DiA is also an Official Rolex Retailer, offering Rolex watches through its authorised retail locations.

TL;DR
  • DiA Precious Jewellery worked with Lucent Innovation to develop its ecommerce storefront on Shopify using wireframes and digital guidelines provided by Rolex.
  • Lucent handled the development and coding of Rolex-defined collection and product experiences, custom iframe implementations, responsive product showcases and configurable Shopify sections. The completed implementation received Rolex approval in the first review cycle.

Challenges

DiA needed to translate Rolex-provided wireframes and detailed implementation guidelines into a production-ready Shopify storefront without changing the defined digital experience.

Each Rolex-defined collection and product experience had specific requirements for layout, spacing, image ratios, media behavior, content positioning, module sequence, breadcrumbs and responsive behavior.

A Rolex module in this project represented a collection experience that included the collection, its variants and the related pages required to present the products according to the supplied guidelines.

One of the most complex parts of the project was the iframe implementation. The iframe-based experiences needed to work correctly within the wider Shopify storefront while maintaining the required visual presentation across desktop, tablet and mobile.

Product showcases also had to remain pixel-accurate across different screen sizes. Images, content, spacing and product information needed to adapt responsively without changing the visual hierarchy defined in the Rolex documentation.

At the same time, the website needed to remain practical for DiA’s internal team to manage without requiring developer involvement for routine content changes.

Solution

Lucent Innovation handled the development and coding of the Shopify storefront, using the Rolex-provided wireframes and documentation as the reference throughout the project.

The work started by translating the approved layouts into a reusable Shopify structure. Instead of hardcoding every page separately, our team created configurable Shopify sections and components that preserved the required design while giving DiA more flexibility to manage routine content through Shopify.

With this foundation in place, we developed the Rolex-defined collection and product experiences. Each module followed the required sequence, imagery, content hierarchy, typography, interaction patterns and responsive behaviour defined in the documentation.

The same structure was then extended across approximately 16 category pages. Since each category could require different content, the pages were built to support category-specific information without changing the required layout or module sequence.

Next, the product detail pages were developed from the supplied wireframes. Product imagery, information, supporting modules and custom UI elements were implemented with particular attention to how the experience adapted across desktop, tablet and mobile.

Once the core collection and product experiences were in place, the team moved to the custom iframe requirements. Wherever Rolex specifications called for iframe-based functionality, Lucent integrated the required experience into Shopify and ensured it remained visually aligned with the surrounding storefront across different screen sizes.

Alongside front-end development, we also made routine content easier for DiA’s internal team to manage. Configurable Shopify sections and settings were created for elements such as:

  • Images and banners
  • Collection information
  • Promotional content
  • Text and page sections

This reduced the need for code changes when making day-to-day content updates.

The same approach supported the level of control often required in custom Shopify theme development for watch and jewellery retailers, where visual consistency and content flexibility need to work together.

For DiA, it also created a more structured foundation for managing a premium storefront as collections and digital requirements evolve.

After development was completed, Lucent moved into QA and validation. The implementation was checked against the supplied documentation for module behaviour, image and video rendering, iframe presentation, navigation, breadcrumbs, category pages, product pages, browser compatibility and responsive behaviour.

Once these checks were completed, the website was submitted to Rolex for review.

This type of tailored development is part of our broader Shopify Expert Agency work, where we build custom Shopify experiences for requirements that go beyond standard storefront configurations.

Future Scalability

The modular Shopify architecture allows DiA to extend its storefront as collections and content requirements evolve without rebuilding every page from scratch. Reusable sections can support future category and product experiences, while DiA's internal team can continue managing routine imagery, banners, promotional content and page information through Shopify. Additional modules and custom functionality can also be introduced as future digital requirements emerge.
