Client Overview

Electromod is a UK-based premium audio retailer and distributor offering headphones, amplifiers, earpads, cables and accessories. Through its online store, the company provides authorised products, manufacturer-backed warranties and technical support to audio enthusiasts across the UK and Europe.

TL;DR
  • Electromod worked with Lucent Innovation to replace its restrictive bespoke e-commerce system with a more flexible Shopify store.
  • The project included a redesigned storefront, third-party integrations, URL redirects and the migration of nearly 1,000 product SKUs, approximately 7,000 customer records and historical order information.

Challenges

Electromod’s existing e-commerce system supported its daily store operations, but it had become difficult to manage as the business’s requirements changed.

Routine tasks such as updating banners, changing content, presenting products and preparing images often required technical support. This made it harder for Electromod’s team to update the store quickly and manage everyday merchandising independently.

Moving to Shopify also involved a complex data migration. Electromod’s products, customers and historical orders were stored in a custom database whose structure did not directly match Shopify.

Customer accounts had to remain connected to the correct historical orders, while product attributes, images and catalogue information needed to be reorganised for the new platform. The data therefore required careful mapping, cleanup and validation before it could be imported.

The migration scope included:

  • Nearly 1,000 product SKUs
  • Approximately 7,000 customer records
  • Historical customer and order information
  • Product attributes, images and catalogue content
  • Existing website content and important functionality
  • Third-party services supporting store operations
  • Existing URLs that required redirect mapping

Electromod also needed a more modern storefront with clearer navigation, stronger product presentation and a consistent shopping experience across desktop, tablet and mobile devices.

Solution

Lucent Innovation began by reviewing Electromod’s existing store, custom database and operational requirements. This helped the team understand how products, customers and orders were connected and identify the functionality that needed to continue after the migration.

Shopify was chosen because it would give Electromod a more accessible store-management system and greater control over routine product, content and merchandising updates. It also provided the flexibility needed to rebuild the storefront and reconnect the services used in everyday operations.

The next step was to match Electromod’s existing product, customer and order information with Shopify’s structure. The records were cleaned and prepared before import, then checked to confirm that important catalogue details, customer information and historical order relationships had been retained correctly.

At the same time, Lucent Innovation designed and developed the new Shopify storefront. It introduced clearer navigation, more structured product pages, responsive layouts and flexible sections for managing banners, content and promotions.

This project formed part of our broader Shopify migration services, covering data preparation, storefront development, integrations, redirects, testing and launch support.

Once the storefront and data migration were in place, the required third-party services were connected to Shopify. Image handling was also simplified so Electromod’s team could upload and manage images without manually preparing different versions for each part of the store.

Before launch, legacy URLs were mapped to relevant pages on the new website. The team then tested the migrated data, store functionality, customer journeys, integrations, forms, redirects and layouts across desktop, tablet and mobile devices.

Following the launch, Electromod received a 40-hour support allocation, available for three months. This covered technical fixes, minor design adjustments and small improvements during the transition.

Words of Appreciation

Transitioning from our own platform to Shopify turned out to be a great decision, but Lucent Innovation made the task significantly easier for us. The company perfectly understood the requirements and needs of our business, efficiently migrating our shop data to their platform and creating a website that is more convenient for our team. I appreciate their support, attention to detail and professionalism during the cooperation.

Future Scalability

Electromod can now manage routine storefront changes through Shopify and introduce new features or integrations as its requirements evolve. This gives the company room to develop its online store without rebuilding the core platform for every new requirement.
