Client Overview

Our client runs a supply and logistics company situated in the FMCG sector in Nigeria. Their business focuses on streamlining B2B operations. The company deals with distributors, wholesalers, retailers, and back-office teams who want to manage inventory, invoicing, and logistics effortlessly. For this, they required a centralized platform to simplify procedures and real-time inventory tracking to operate efficiently.

TL;DR

This case study shows how Lucent Innovations uses a robust, real-time inventory management dashboard to improve B2B operations for a Nigerian FMCG company. By automating processes and centralizing insights, the platform increases efficiency, reduces errors, and speeds up order processing. It is a scalable system that is ready for future expansion.

Challenge

The client struggled with a disjointed and inefficient supply chain in which various stakeholders relied on manual processes and unrelated tools. This creates hurdles for distributors and wholesalers to process orders and manage inventory. Some main challenging factors include;

  • Disparate System –****The first problem was synchronizing inventories and transactions because different teams used different methods like spreadsheets, specialized software, or phone-based order processing.
  • Repetitive Manual Processes The process of order generation and invoicing was delayed due to repetitive data entry and manual verification., resulting in duplicate entries and payment issues.
  • Conflicting Inventory Data –****All the transactions were delayed due to overstocking, stockouts, and payment disputes caused by inconsistent stock records from distributors and retailers.
  • Limited Visibility & Insights –The customer faced challenges in making strategic decisions due to the lack of centralized analysis. This hindered their ability to assess sales trends, monitor inventory turnover, and maximize the supply chain.

Solution

To overcome these challenges, our team at Lucent presented the following solutions.

  • Unified Dashboard with Role-Based Access –The solution covers a user-centric React Native dashboard designed with React Native primitive UI libraries. This way, distributors were able to manage inventory, wholesalers processed invoices, retailers placed orders, and administrators controlled operations without relying on multiple tools.
  • One-Tap Actions for Faster Workflows ––Next, we focused on reducing the work that once took minutes and now can be completed within seconds. This also helped to minimize errors by enabling faster order placement and immediate invoice creation using Material-UI.
  • Real-Time Analytics with Tableau– With the Tableau dashboard integration,  the client was able to fetch real-time insights into orders, payments, and inventory. This helps to make data-driven decisions, eventually maximizing the business potential.
  • Secure Access with Twilio OTP – At last, we Implemented Twilio’s OTP technology to enable secure login and transaction verification. It was truly beneficial to build user trust while also ensuring compliance with Nigerian data privacy laws.

Results

  • Operational silos were reduced by 70%

  • Process synchronization achieved across the team,

  • Misunderstandings were reduced with the use of a centralized dashboard,

  • One-tap actions resulted in improved efficiency and reduced errors,

  • Order processing time reduced from 10 minutes to only 30 seconds.

  • With the integration of Tableau, the business administrators were able to gain real-time insights into inventory trends. This enables the personnel to identify dead stocks, optimize supply chain statistics, and minimize wastage.

  • Moreover, the user-friendly UI with Twilio OTP verification ensured secure access across all devices, fostering user trust. Full impact metrics will be assessed post-launch while the platform is still under development. The complete impact metrics can be evaluated after the launch as the platform continues to be developed.

Words of Appreciation

"This platform has completely transformed how we manage our supply chain. The unified dashboard has eliminated confusion, and the one-tap actions have made order processing incredibly fast and error-free."

Future Scalability

The platform, built on Material-UI and React Native, is designed to scale across devices and enter new markets easily according to the client’s needs. Twilio’s OTP system ensures secure access for a constantly growing user base, while Tableau’s sophisticated analytics can handle expanding data volumes.

Based on user input, the modular architecture facilitates the easy inclusion of additional services after launch, such as payment gateway integration or AI-powered market predictions. This flexibility promotes ongoing innovation and market leadership in Nigeria’s FMCG B2B sector, ensuring the client’s long-term success.
