A store can look ready for launch while the difficult questions are still sitting in the old platform. Will customers see their past orders? Will a product page they bookmarked still work? What happens to the wholesale price that used to come from a Magento rule?
Those questions often decide whether a Shopify migration feels smooth to the people using the store. Moving the catalog matters, but so do the data behind it, the connected systems, and the paths customers take to find products. Shopify's migration guide recommends deciding how each type of data will move and testing the new store before launch.
This article is for merchants choosing a team to handle that work. We looked for companies with a stated US location and a published Shopify migration project. The examples come from the agencies' own websites; we have not independently tested their work. Lucent Innovation publishes this article and appears in the list. A US location does not mean an agency's entire delivery team is based there.
The list starts with the type of move each company has shown it can handle. Use it to find a few relevant teams, then ask how they would approach your store.

1. Lucent Innovation: for migrations with custom data and storefront needs
Lucent's Electromod project involved moving a store from a bespoke system to Shopify. Product information, customer records, and historical orders needed mapping and validation before import. The project also included a redesigned storefront, integrations, and URL redirects.
Its Dekoni Audio project shows a different challenge: moving from WooCommerce while reorganizing a complex catalog and product compatibility information.
Best fit: A merchant whose migration needs custom data mapping or a storefront rebuild.
Ask about: How will the team validate that products, customers and old orders remain correctly connected?
2. BlueSwitch: for multi-brand and domain changes
BlueSwitch describes a Magento to Shopify Plus migration for Jovial Foods and Bionaturae. The work covered legacy product and customer data, DNS changes, and redirects from two brand domains into one store. Those details make this a useful example for merchants whose migration affects more than a single storefront URL.
Best fit: Brands consolidating storefronts or changing domain structure.
Ask about: Can the agency show the redirect map and explain how it will test important pages after launch?
3. Shero Commerce: for complex B2B requirements
In its Painful Pleasures project, Shero took on a Magento to Shopify move with B2B pricing, bulk ordering, customer data, and store-credit requirements. A merchant with similar rules should examine how an agency plans to recreate each workflow on Shopify before agreeing to a launch date.
Best fit: Merchants moving B2B operations from Magento.
Ask about: Which pricing and account rules can use Shopify features and which need custom development?
4. Fyresite: for wholesale and physical retail on Shopify Plus
Fyresite's State Forty Eight case study describes a WooCommerce to Shopify Plus migration that also set up Shopify B2B and POS. The project included a custom theme, ShipStation connection, and rewards migration. It is relevant when the new store must work for both online shoppers and people buying through wholesale or physical locations.
Best fit: Merchants bringing DTC, B2B, and store operations together.
Ask about: Which system will own inventory and customer records after the move?
5. Netalico: for Magento stores with substantial content
Netalico's Audio Advice project describes moving content from Magento and WordPress to Shopify Plus. The work also included product listing and product detail changes, search, and content templates. That makes it worth reviewing if your customers rely on detailed product specifications and buying guides. Netalico lists US team locations, including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Miami.
Best fit: Magento merchants with rich product information and editorial content.
Ask about: How will existing guides, product attributes and search filters map to the new store?
6. Barrel: for consumer brands joining storefronts
Barrel describes moving HALO and aden + anais from Magento to Shopify under one shopping experience. The team worked on navigation and product discovery so shoppers could move between the brands. It is an example of a migration where the buying journey needs as much thought as the data transfer.
Best fit: Consumer brands combining catalogs or shopping experiences.
Ask about: What should stay distinct between the brands and what should shoppers share, such as search or cart?
7. Coalition Technologies: for migration and marketing under one team
Coalition's Magnolia Boutique case study covers a BigCommerce to Shopify move involving a large product catalog, customer and order data, reviews, and integrations. The agency also reports work on analytics, SEO and paid campaigns. That combination may appeal to a merchant planning both a platform move and changes to customer acquisition.
Best fit: Brands that want migration and marketing work coordinated.
Ask about: Who owns the URL migration and analytics checks and what will be measured after launch?
8. Avex: for luxury brands building a new DTC experience
Avex's Marchesa project describes a move from a WordPress-led presence to a Shopify Plus store where customers could shop directly. The work paired replatforming with store design, product discovery, and the brand's digital shopping experience. This example is most relevant when the move also changes how the business sells online.
Best fit: Luxury or fashion brands launching a direct sales experience on Shopify Plus.
Ask about: What existing content must move and what new commerce workflows need to be built?
How to choose a Shopify migration company
Start with your current store, not an agency's longest client list. Write down what the new store must preserve and what you want to change. Shopify notes that migration methods differ by data type and complexity; some work can use imports or apps, while other requirements call for a partner or custom API solution. See Shopify's migration steps.
Then ask each shortlisted agency for a project similar to yours, a proposed scope, and named owners for these five areas:
- Data: What moves, what does not, and how will records be checked against the old store?
- URLs and SEO: Which URLs need redirects and how will critical pages be tested?
- Operations: How will payments, tax, shipping, subscriptions, POS, B2B rules and integrations work on Shopify?
- Launch: Who runs test orders, confirms tracking and handles the cutover?
- After launch: Who fixes missed records, broken links, or workflow errors and for how long?
Ask for those answers in the proposal. Shopify's partner selection guide also recommends checking reconciliation, SEO planning, systems, and post-launch support.
If you first need to understand the full process, read our Shopify migration guide. If you are comparing agencies for broader design or development work, see our US Shopify agencies list.
Planning a move to Shopify?
A useful first conversation should cover your current platform, catalog, integrations, traffic-sensitive URLs, and target launch window. Share those details with Lucent Innovation's Shopify migration team to discuss the scope and the work that needs checking before launch.
